Two WC Boats Finish Fourth at
Head of the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Washington College women's rowing team finished fourth in both the club eight and the open four at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta today in Philadelphia. The Shorewomen's open four boat finished fourth of 24 boats in 15:55.19, behind only New York Athletic Club (15:24.22), Georgetown (15:37.36), and Capital Rowing Club (15:40.76). WC's club eight was fourth of 31 boats in 14:44.18, behind Villanova (14:05.77), Rhode Island (14:35.85), and Navy (14:35.99).

Senior Amy Levak (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's open four boat. Senior Kelly McGlynn (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) sat stroke, senior Sara Beegle (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) was in the three seat, sophomore Cassie Ann Slentz (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) was in the two seat, and senior Leona Dalton (Bowie, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) was the bow.

Junior Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) served as coxswain of the boat in the club eight. With her in the boat were sophomore Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA/Conestoga) at stroke, junior Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) in the seven seat, sophomore Amanda Jones (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) in the six seat, senior Gina Ralston (Unionville, PA/Unionville) in the five seat, sophomore Leslie Meredith (Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD/Lake Braddock, VA), sophomore Betsy Davis (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) in the three seat, sophomore Anna Landry (Virginia Beach, VA/Great Bridge) in the two seat, and junior Sam Hastler (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) at bow.

Washington also competed in the championship eight, finishing 18th of 18 boats. Sophomore Katie Cooper (Annapolis, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was the coxswain of WC's boat in the championship eight. Joining her in the boat were sophomore Jeanne Seeberger (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) at stroke, sophomore Stephanie Gerwitz (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) in the seven seat, sophomore Caitlyn Koehler (Waldorf, MD/McDonogh) in the six seat, junior Sarah Kuhlmann (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) in the five seat, sophomore Sara Gendal (Strafford, VT/Thetford Academy) in the four seat, sophomore Sarah Riklin (Bethesda, MD/Walter Johnson) in the three seat, sophomore Maggie Von Rump (Mystic, CT/Fitch) in the two seat, and sophomore Amanda Whittemore (Media, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) at bow.
