Fours Excel at Occoquan Chase
WC Finishes with Two Boats in Top 10

LORTON, VA -- The Washington College women's rowing team placed two boats in the top 10 finishers of the open four Sunday at the Occoquan Chase in Lorton, VA. Washington's "A" boat in the open four turned in the best performance of any collegiate boat in the race.

The Shorewomen's "A" boat finished in 18:02, good for third place overall out of 19 boats and eight seconds faster than the next collegiate boat, George Mason's "B" boat. Two boats from the Capital Rowing Club finished first and second. Washington's "B" boat in the open four finished in 19:00, good for ninth place overall and sixth among collegiate boats.

Senior Amy Levak (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "A" boat in the open four. Senior Kelly McGlynn (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) sat stroke, senior Sara Beegle (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) was in the three seat, sophomore Cassie Ann Slentz (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) was in the two seat, and senior Leona Dalton (Bowie, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) was the bow.

Junior Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) served as coxswain of the "B" boat in the open four. Sophomore Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA/Conestoga) sat stroke, senior Gina Ralston (Unionville, PA/Unionville) was in the three seat, sophomore Anna Landry (Virginia Beach, VA/Great Bridge) was in the two seat, and sophomore Betsy Davis (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) was the bow.

The Shorewomen's second varsity eight boat competed in the collegiate eight, finishing 11th of 16 teams in 17:23.

The Shorewomen are set to compete at the Head of the Charless Regatta in Boston, MA, next Saturday and Sunday.
