19, 2003 BOSTON, MA -- The Washington College women's rowing team competed in the collegiate eight at the Head of the Charles Regatta, the world's largest rowing regatta, this afternoon in Boston. Washington finished 20th of 38 boats in the race in 17:59.943. Senior Amy Levak (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's collegiate eight. Senior Kelly McGlynn (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) sat stroke, senior Sara Beegle (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) was in the seven seat, sophomore Cassie Ann Slentz (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) was in the six seat, junior Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) was in the five seat, sophomore Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA/Conestoga) was in the four seat, senior Gina Ralston (Unionville, PA/Unionville) was in the three seat, sophomore Anna Landry (Virginia Beach, VA/Great Bridge) was in the two seat, and senior Leona Dalton (Bowie, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) was the bow. Queen's University of Canada won the race in 16:47.321. The University of Louisville was second, while the United States Coast Guard Academy was third. Next weekend, WC's varsity rowers will travel to the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia on Saturday and the novice rowers will host the Tapke Chase Sunday on the Chester River. |
