Championship Eight Finishes Ninth
at Head of Schuylkill Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Washington College women's rowing team participated in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta Saturday. A ninth-place finish by the WC boat in the championship eight highlighted Washington's performance. WC also finished 24th in the women's club eight and 21st in the women's four.

Senior coxswain Anna Germain (Rock Hall, MD/Christiana, DE) guided the championship eight boat across the finish line in 15:07.86, just 4.5 seconds behind the first-place boat. The Shorewomen were one of only two Division III boats in the race (the other, William Smith, finished 22nd) and finished ahead of 13 Division I boats. Sophomore Juli Irwin (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) sat in the eight seat, junior Sara Beegle (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) sat seventh, senior Mary McAuliffe (Columbia, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) sat sixth, freshman Julia Lange (Ballston Lake, NY) sat in the five seat, freshman Amanda Jones (Chadds Ford, PA) sat fourth, sophomore Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) sat third, freshman Anna Landry (Chesapeake, VA) sat second, and freshman Kristen Machen (Bohannon, VA) sat in the one seat.

In the club eight, junior coxswain Amy Levak (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) guided her boat to the finish in 17:33.31. Sophomore Jennifer Bockmiller (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat in the eight seat, sophomore Stacey Pratt (Kennett Square, PA/Kennet Square) sat seventh, senior Heather Reader (Chadds Ford, PA/Garnet Valley) sat sixth, sophomore Amanda Smallwood (Ft. Washington, MD/Oxon Hill) sat in the five seat, sophomore Min-Li Wu (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat fourth, freshman Brooke Burkett (Avon Lake, OH) sat third, freshman Leslie Meredith sat second, and freshman Amber Reader (Chadds Ford, PA) sat in the one seat.

Sophomore Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) was the coxswain for the women's four boat, which finished in 24:47.47. Freshman Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA) sat in the four seat, freshman Stephanie Gerwitz (Wynnewood, PA) sat third, sophomore Aurora Sanchez (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) sat second, and freshman Maggie Von Rump (Mystic, CT) sat in the one seat.
