13, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The 10th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team won all three women's races by at least 18 seconds a each this morning in a match regatta against Mary Washington College, whose women's rowers are ranked 19th in Division III. The match winner was determined by combined scoring and WC came out on top, 38-36. In the first women's race, the Shorewomen won with a time of 8:02.12 in the frosh/novice four. Mary Washington finished in 8:27.4. In the women's second varsity eight, Washington won in 7:10.3 to the Eagles' time of 7:34.3. In the first varsity eight, Washington gradually opened up a lead over the 2,000 meter course and won in 7:07.7. Mary Washington finished in 7:26.24. The first varsity eight, the last women's event of the day, was raced in rough water. Next Saturday, the Shorewomen will compete at the Murphy Cup. |
