Three WC Boats Make Finals at Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The 10th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed at Temple University's Murphy Cup yesterday. All three WC boats made the finals in their respective events and each boat finished in the top four.

The first varsity eight boat finished second in its heat in 6:46.60 before moving onto the finals. WC was the only Division III boat in the final and finished fourth of six boats in 6:54.95, behind Lehigh, Fordham, and Villanova.

The second varsity eight boat finished third in its final in 7:14.1. That WC boat was bested only by Division I boats from Villanova and St. Joseph's and finished ahead of Division I boats from Lehigh and Drexel.

Also finishing third was the frosh/novice four. After finishing second in their heat in 8:10.08, the Shorewomen completed the final race in 8:09.48, finishing behind Division I schools Pittsburgh and St. Joseph's and ahead of two Division I boats and one Division III boat.

This coming Saturday, the Shorewomen will compete at the Atlantic Collegiate Sprints League Regatta. Also competing at that regatta will be Ithaca, R.I.T., and Marietta, three teams that, like the Shorewomen, are in the hunt for the three Pool B bids to the NCAA Division III Championships.
