Eights Row at Dad Vail Regatta
WC In Hunt for NCAA Bid

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The 12th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed at the Dad Vail Regatta today, entering boats in the women's varsity heavyweight eight and the women's junior varsity heavyweight eight.

The varsity boat finished fourth in 6:58.3 in its heat, racing against boats from Division I schools. UMASS won the heat, followed by Buffalo and Rhode Island. The Shorewomen finished ahead of St. Joseph's. WC's place in the heat earned the Shorewomen a second chance to advance in the event by landing the boat in the repechage. The varsity boat did not advance after finishing fourth in its repechage in 7:41.1, behind Division I boats from Connecticut, Temple, and Drake and ahead of Johns Hopkins and FIT.

The junior varsity boat also raced in a heat that featured boats from Division I schools. The JV boat placed fifth in the heat in 8:15.9. Purdue won the heat, followed by Boston College in second and Delaware in third.

The regatta was WC's final regular season competition. The Shorewomen will find out whether or not they will receive a bid to the NCAA Championships Tuesday.
