27, 2002 CARLISLE, PA -- The 12th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed at the Atlantic Collegiate Sprints League Regatta Saturday in Carlisle, PA. The regatta featured several nationally-ranked Division III teams. In the first varsity eight, WC finished second in its heat in 6:40.89 to advance to the finals. In the finals the Shorewomen finished fourth in 7:00.45. Second-ranked Ithaca won the race in 6:46.94, eighth-ranked R.I.T. was next in 6:53.49, and 10th-ranked Coast Guard was third in 7:57.71. WC defeated 15th-ranked Vassar (fourth, 7:04.79) and 20th-ranked Marietta (7:12.00). WC's second varsity eight took third place in 7:17.82. Ithaca won that event as well in 7:02, while Coast Guard was second in 7:06.97. Vassar finished fourth in 7:22.61, R.I.T. was fifth in 7:29.22, and Marietta was sixth in 7:40.23. WC's novice four won gold, taking first place in 8:02.85. Johns Hopkins was second in 8:34.02 and Richard Stockton was third in 9:10.93. The Shorewomen will compete at the Ayava Regatta in Worcester, MA, May 10-12. |
