2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- After falling to Swarthmore College by one goal each of the past two seasons, host Washington College exacted revenge this evening by scoring 12 second-half goals against the Garnet en route to a 17-11 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 7-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play with the win, while the Garnet fell to 4-9 and 0-5. Swarthmore jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the game as Amy Vachal netted the Garnet's third goal with 21:13 left in the first half. Washington's first 15 shots failed to find the back of the net, but the Shorewomen then scored on their next four shots in a row to take a 4-3 lead. Junior midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) opened the run with an unassisted goal with 7:16 left. Washington took control of the game by scoring three quick goals to open the second half. Freshman midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) scored 38 seconds into the period and Lambert netted back-to-back free-position goals with 27:23 and 26:54 left on the clock, respectively.
