2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College netted seven goals in the first 9:38 of the contest to down visiting Trinity, 14-1, in women's lacrosse action this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Tigers drop to 0-1. Washington College had 11 different players score in the first half as the Shorewomen jumped out to a 12-0 halftime lead. Freshman Tara Hart (Baltimore, MD/Garrison Forest) scored her first two career goals in the opening 30 minutes. Freshman Whitney Donald (Kingsville, MD/John Carroll) chalked up her first collegiate goal and assist in the opening half. Senior attack Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) tallied one goal and two assists in a 3:34 stretch of the opening half. In the game, 13 different players tallied goals. Also netting their first career goals in the game were juniors Laura Rickus (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll), sophomore Lauren Miller (Ellicott City, MD/Mount de Sales) and freshmen Catherine Habel (Gaithersburg, MD/Watkins Mill), Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) and Taylor Robinson (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township). The Tigers lone goal came from senior Jane Pacheco 3:01 into the second half. Washington held a 31-1 advantage in shots in the game, with a 27-0 differential at halftime, and a 16-6 edge in ground balls. Trinity goalie Eva Portillo made 12 saves in the contest. The Shorewomen return to action on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. tilt against Ohio Wesleyan in Wellington, FL. |
