Luchey Lifts Shorewomen to 11-10 Win
Washington Edges Muhlenberg on Free-Position Shot

ALLENTOWN, PA -- Junior midfielder Alli Luchey (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) scored the game-winning goal on a free-position shot with 1:04 remaining in the game to give visiting Washington College an 11-10 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Muhlenberg College today in Allentown, PA. The Shorewomen improved to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the win, while the Mules fell to 7-4 and 1-4 with the loss.

Muhlenberg jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the game, but Washington ended the first half on a 4-1 run, capped off by a goal by senior attacker Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) off an assist from junior midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) with 1:47 left in the half, to take a 7-6 lead at halftime.

Amanda McGovern tied the score for Muhlenberg with 27:02 left in the second. Washington retook the lead on a goal by sophomore attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) 33 seconds later, but the Mules again tied the score at 8-8 when Ruth Morrongiello found Sarah Hiller for a goal with 21:43 on the clock. The Shorewomen scored the next two goals as junior attacker Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) found Jakub for a goal with 17:57 on the clock and Jakub found Gouck with 14:40 left to give Washington a 10-8 lead. Morrongiello scored for Muhlenberg with 9:55 left and Hiller scored off a feed from Taylor Armstrong with 4:20 remaining to knot the score at 10-10. Neither team would score again until Luchey's game-winner. Junior defender Lindsay Fox (Laurel, MD/Atholton) controlled the ensuing draw for the Shorewomen as Washington held on to the ball to run out the clock.

Jakub finished with three goals and two assists for the Shorewomen, while Gouck and sophomore midfielder Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) scored two goals each in the game for Washington. Morrongiello scored three goals for the Mules, while McGovern added three goals of her own.

Washington senior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Muhlenberg goalie Caroline Shadood each finished with 12 saves. Washington held a 31-28 advantage in shots in the game.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Swarthmore.
