2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- 20th ranked Dickinson College jumped out to an 8-0 halftime lead and defeated host Washington College, 16-5, in a Centennial Conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. Seven different players recorded goals for Dickinson (8-5, 5-2 CC) in the opening half, highlighted by two goals by Amy Jennings. Tara Goss tallied three assists, while Alyssa Crellin dished out two assists in the first half. Goss ended up with five assists in the game and Jennings pumped in three goals for the Red Devils. The Shorewomen got on the board with 20:48 left in the game when senior attack Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) scored off of feed from sophomore attack Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC). Washington (6-9, 2-5 CC) got two goals from junior defender Lindsay Fox (Laurel, MD/Atholton) and a goal each from Beane, junior midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) and freshman attack Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales). Dickinson outshot Washington, 33-26, and held a 24-15 advantage in ground balls. For the Red Devils, Gabby Joffie made nine saves, while for the Shorewomen, senior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) turned away eight shots. Washington returns to action on Tuesday with a 5:00 p.m. tilt at Ursinus in Centennial Conference action. |
