March 6, 2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Ursinus College jumped out to a 9-2 halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 14-4 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory this afternoon on Kibler Field at Kirby Stadium. The Shorewomen fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play with the loss; the game was the season opener for the Bears. Ashley Ettinger led Ursinus with three goals and one assist, while Logan Conklin added three goals of her own. Lisa Clark and Erikah Weir each tallied two goals and one assists, while Jenna Werley finished with one goal and one assist and Debbie Jensen totaled two assists. Allyson Shicora made 11 saves in the win for Ursinus. Leahann Lapinski recorded a game-high four caused turnovers. Freshman attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) scored two goals to lead Washington. Senior midfielder Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and junior attacker Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) each added one goal. Sophomore midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) recorded a game-high five draw controls. Ursinus held a 23-17 advantage in shots in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Friday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Guilford. |
