March 14, 2006 WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- The Washington College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 10-2 halftime lead en route to a 15-2 win over Puget Sound at the "Spring Fling" this afternoon in West Palm Beach, FL. The Shorewomen improved to 4-2 on the season with the win, surpassing their 2005 win total of three. The Loggers fell to 0-4 with the loss. Freshman attacker Sally Mancini (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the way for the Shorewomen. Junior midfielder Lauren Sampson (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) added two goals and one assist, while senior midfielder Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and sophomore midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) each finished with two goals. Junior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) played the first half for Washington, making two saves and allowing two goals. Sophomore goalie Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) played the second half and made six saves while allowing no goals. Julie Weiss and Ellen Fisher scored for Puget Sound in the loss. Washington held a 39-11 advantage in shots in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 9:00 a.m. game against 14th-ranked Stevens Tech at the "Spring Fling." |
