March 25, 2006 ALLENTOWN, PA -- Host Muhlenberg College jumped out to a 9-3 halftime lead en route to a 13-10 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Allentown, PA. The Mules improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-5 and 0-3 with the loss. Courtney Tapkas led Muhlenberg with three goals in the win, while Shannon Donohue added two goals and one assist and Katie Noone and Steph Light each scored two goals. Ruth Morrongiello finished with one goal and one assist for the Mules. Jessica Geiger and Katie Reimann each scored one goal, while Taylor Armstrong added two assists. Junior attacker Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) led the Shorewomen with three goals and one assist, while freshman attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) and freshman attacker Sally Mancini (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) each notched two goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame), sophomore midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), and junior midfielder Lauren Sampson (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) scored one goal each for Washington. Caroline Shadood made 17 saves for the Mules, while junior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) made 15 stops for the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Goucher. |
