McDaniel Defeats Shorewomen, 14-10
Jakub Leads Washington with 3 Goals, 2 Assists

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Host McDaniel College scored the first four goals of the second half to pull away from visiting Washington College en route to a 14-10 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The Green Terror improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 5-3 and 0-2.

McDaniel held a 7-5 lead before Connie Wuenschel scored with 4.6 seconds left in the first half to push the lead to 8-5 by halftime. The Green Terror then opened the second half on a four-goal run to extend the lead to 12-5 when Lindsey McDonald scored with 15:10 to play. McDaniel kept the lead at six or seven goals the rest of the way until the Shorewomen scored the final three goals of the game to provide the final margin.

Connie Wuenschel led the Green Terror with three goals and two assists, while McDonald and Kerrie Wuenschel each finished with three goals of their own. Caitlin Schellhorn, Kim Lowry, and Michelle Mullen each added one goal and one assist. Tara Smith and Jacqueline Kahler each scored one goal, while Megan Mattson recorded one assist.

Freshman attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) paced the Shorewomen with three goals and the first two assists of her collegiate career. Junior midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) added two goals, while freshman attacker Sally Mancini (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) scored one goal and assisted on another. Senior midfielder Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame), sophomore midfielder Alli Luchey (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air), senior attacker Kelly Gallagher (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto), and freshman Brittany Lambert (Riva, MD/South River) each scored one goal. Lambert's was the first of her collegiate career. Sophomore attacker Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) recorded one assist for Washington.

Sarah White made seven saves in the win for McDaniel, while junior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) made 11 stops for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game at Rowan.
