April 1, 2006 BRYN MAWR, PA -- Visiting Washington College raced out to an 11-1 halftime lead en route to a 14-7 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Bryn Mawr this afternoon. The Shorewomen, who had six players score at least two goals each, improved to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while the Owls fell to 5-6 and 0-2. Freshman attacker Sally Mancini (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) paced the Shorewomen with three goals and one assist in the win. Sophomore midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) added two goals and two assists, while senior midfielder Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and junior midfielder Lauren Sampson (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) tallied two goals and one assist each. Freshman attacker Suzie Jakub (University Park, MD/St. John's College, DC) and junior midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) scored two goals each. Greta Flaherty scored three goals for Bryn Mawr, while Jessica Wurtz added two goals for the Owls. Sophomore goalie Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) played the first half for Washington and made four saves, while junior goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) made four saves in the second half. Steph Hilton made 14 saves in goal for Bryn Mawr. The Shorewomen held a 32-20 advantage in shots in the game, including a 22-8 edge in the first half. The Shorewomen are back in action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Swarthmore. |
