23, 2005 COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Host Ursinus College built a 10-3 halftime lead en route to a 15-9 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon. The Bears improved to 9-5 overall and finish conference play with a 7-2 mark, while the Shorewomen fell to 3-13 and finish conference play with a 1-8 record. Ashley Ettinger scored five goals to lead Ursinus in the win, while Erikah Weir finished with two goals and one assist and Kyle Kauffman added two goals of her own. Melissa Dunn recorded a game-high eight ground balls for the Bears. Senior attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) scored three goals and assisted on two others for the Shorewomen, while junior attacker Kelly Gallagher (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) tallied two goals and senior defender Tarra Boulden (Newark, DE/Tower Hill) finished with one goal and one assist. Freshman midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), sophomore attacker/midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park), and sophomore attacker/midfielder Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) each scored one goal. Freshman attacker Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) picked up an assist in the loss. Boulden added a game-high six draw controls for Washington. The Shorewomen will finish their 2005 season Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. game against top-ranked Salisbury. |
