Shorewomen Fall to Garnet Tide, 10-6
Bollinger, Eichner Tally Three Points Each

SWARTHMORE, PA -- Host Swarthmore College scored the first four goals of the second half to pull away from visiting Washington College en route to a 10-6 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory this evening. The Garnet Tide improved to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-6 and 1-2.

Swarthmore jumped out to a 5-2 lead with nine minutes to play in the opening half. Washington senior attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) scored off an assist from junior midfielder/attacker Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) with 5:23 remaining in half and sophomore attacker/midfielder Megan Block (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) scored off a feed from Eichner with 1:28 remaining to cut the lead to 5-4 by the intermission.

The Garnet Tide opened the second half on a four-goal run to take a 9-4 lead on a goal by Ele Forbes with 13:07 remaining. Swarthmore led by at least four goals the rest of the way.

Megan Sanborn, Niamh Shortt, and Heidie Fieselmann each scored two goals for the Garnet Tide. Shortt also added an assist. Lindsay Roth contributed one goal and one assist to the win, while Katie Crawford, Megan Speare, and Forbes each tallied one goal. Sussanah Blair made seven saves in goal for Swarthmore.

Bollinger tallied two goals and one assist and Eichner finished with one goal and two assists to pace the Shorewomen. Senior defender Tarra Boulden (Newark, DE/Tower Hill) added two goals, while Block tallied one. Junior attacker Kelly Gallagher (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) contributed one assist for Washington.

Sophomore Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) made 15 saves in goal for the Shorewomen. Junior defender Megan Crisler (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) scooped up a game-high seven ground balls.

Swarthmore held a 38-16 advantage in shots in the game.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at eighth-ranked Gettysburg.
