WAC Rolls Past RIT in Opener, 15-5
Eichner, Boulden Tie School Records

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) tied the Washington College record for career assists and senior defender Tarra Boulden (Newark, DE/Tower Hill) tied the Washington College record for ground balls in a single game as the host Shorewomen defeated visiting Rochester Institute of Technology, 15-5, in the women's lacrosse season opener for both teams this afternoon at Shriver Field.

Eichner tallied six assists in the game to up her career total to 106, equaling the school record set by Maggy Kilroy from 1997-2000. Her record-tying assist came on a goal by junior midfielder/attacker Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) with 19:00 to play in the second half. Eichner added two goals in the win to go along with her six assists.

Boulden scooped up nine ground balls in the game to equal the mark set by Janet Studdiford in 2003. Boulden also picked up an assist for Washington.

Six Shorewomen other than Eichner recorded multiple points in the win. Bollinger finished with three goals and one assist. Sophomore attacker/midfielder Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton), junior attacker Liddy Campbell (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day School), and freshman midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) each scored their first two collegiate goals in the victory. Sophomore attacker/midfielder Megan Block (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) also scored two goals, while sophomore attacker/midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) added one goal and one assist. Sophomore attacker/midfielder Lauren Sampson (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) scored her first collegiate goal and junior attacker Kelly Gallagher (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) tallied an assist for Washington.

Sophomore goalie Mollie Binotto (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) play the first 55:32 of the game for the Shorewomen, recording six saves and allowing five goals. Junior defender Megan Crisler (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) tallied a game-high four caused turnovers for WAC.

Lindsay Fueuer and Lisette Silver each scored two goals for R.I.T. Pinckney Templeton added one goal for the Tigers, while Catie Purrazzella contributed one assist.

The Shorewomen held a 7-4 lead at halftime and scored seven unanswered goals over the first 16:05 of the second half to break open the game. The Shorewomen outshot the Tigers, 25-15, and controlled 14 of the game's 22 draws.

Washington returns to action Wednesday with an 11:00 a.m. game against Division II St. Anselm in Orlando, FL.
