6, 2005 HAVERFORD, PA -- Host Haverford College jumped out to an 12-5 halftime lead and held off visiting Washington College in a 13-10 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory this afternoon. The Fords improved to 6-4 and 2-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-8 and 1-4 with the loss. Margaret Sampson led the Fords with four goals and two assists, while Mary vanOgtrop added three goals. Meg Twomey tallied two goals and one assist, while Meredith Wen scored two goals of her own. Katie Johnson and Katie Meyers each had one goal and one assist in the win. Sarah Steenbergen tallied one assist for the Fords. Senior attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) led Washington with two goals and three assists, while sophomore attacker/midfielder Megan Block (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) fired in three goals and freshman attacker Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) tallied two goals and two assists. Senior defender Tarra Boulden (Newark, DE/Tower Hill) added one goal and one assist, while sophomore attacker/midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) and sophomore attacker/midfielder Caitlin Beane (University Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) each scored one goal. Wen led all players with five draw controls for Haverford. Junior defender Megan Crisler (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) recorded a game-high five caused turnovers for the Shorewomen. Haverford held a 25-21 lead in shots in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against 13th-ranked Franklin & Marshall. |
