March 19, 2005 WASHINGTON, DC -- Host Catholic University jumped out to a 7-0 halftime lead en route to an 11-4 win over visiting Washington College in women's lacrosse action today in Washington, DC. The Cardinals improved to 4-3 with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 2-3 with the loss. Jaclyn Seward led Catholic with three goals in the win, while Marisa Schaefer added two goals. Caitlin O'Neill and Courtney Murray each tallied one goal and one assist. Kerin Sweeney, Sheryl Gateau, Taylor Blades, and Marcy Cuneo each scored one goal for the Cardinals. Sophomore attacker/midfielder Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park), senior defender Tarra Boulden (Newark, DE/Tower Hill), freshman midfielder Jenna Gouck (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), and sophomore midfielder/defender Beth Stevens (Easton, MD/Easton) each scored one goal for the Shorewomen. Junior midfielder/attacker Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame), sophomore attacker/midfielder Lauren Sampson (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis), and freshman attacker Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) each tallied one assist for Washington. Catholic held a 27-13 advantage in shots in the game. The Shorewomen will open their Centennial Conference schedule Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Muhlenberg. |
