WC Matches Goal Record in Win
Shorewomen Handle Mules, 24-14

ALLENTOWN, PA --Junior attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) had a hand in 10 goals as visiting Washington College matched its school record for goals in a game with a 24-14 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse win over host Muhlenberg today in Allentown, PA. The Shorewomen improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the win, while the Mules fell to 2-4 and 0-2.

Washington led 13-8 at the half and scored the first six goals of the second half to pull away. The Shorewomen's 24 goals matches the mark they set last April 17th in a 24-16 home win over Villa Julie.

Eichner led the Shorewomen with four goals and six assists in the win. Senior attacker Casey Sawma (Conway, MA/Stoneleigh-Burnham) scored six goals and recorded one assist, while senior attacker Janet Studdiford (Wyndmoor, PA/Springside School) added two goals and six assists. Sophomore midfielder Emmy Hyde (Gaithersburg, MD/Watkins Mill) finished with three goals and one assist.

Senior midfielder Minta Sayres (East Haddam, CT/Westminster School), senior midfielder Erin Alessi (Baldwin, MD/Notre Dame Prep), freshman midfielder/attacker Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park), and sophomore attacker Katie Gelderman (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) each scored two goals for the Shorewomen . Gelderman's were the first of her collegiate career. Alessi also had game-highs of seven draw controls and four caused turnovers.

Washington freshman defender/midfielder Beth Stevens (Easton, MD/Easton) scored her first collegiate goal, while freshman attacker/midfielder Lauren Sampson (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) tallied her first collegiate assist. Sophomore attacker Kelly Gallagher (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) contributed an assist to the win.

Muhlenberg was led offensively by Courtney Tapkas, who scored five goals and assisted on another. Jessica Geiger added three goals and one assist, while Elizabeth Alexander and Christa Carlstrand had two goals each.

The Shorewomen are back in action Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Swarthmore.
