Shorewomen Stuff Owls, 16-4

BRYN MAWR, PA -- Visiting Washington College built a 10-3 halftime lead en route to a 16-4 Centennial Conference victory over host Bryn Mawr College in women's lacrosse action this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play with the win, while the Owls slipped to 8-7 and 0-7.

Senior defender Diana Martin (Boothwyn, PA/Chichester) had a big game for the Shorewomen, recording a career-high eight caused turnovers and scoring her first collegiate goal on a free-position shot in the second half.

Junior attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) scored four goals and assisted on two others in the win, while senior attacker Janet Studdiford (Wyndmoor, PA/Springside School) tallied three goals and three assists. Senior attacker Casey Sawma (Conway, MA/Stoneleigh-Burnham) scored four goals, while senior midfielder Minta Sayres (East Haddam, CT/Westminster School) contributed two goals and one assist. Sophomore attacker Erin Bollinger (Perry Hall, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) handed out three assists.

Senior midfielder Erin Alessi (Baldwin, MD/Notre Dame Prep) scored one goal and tallied one assist for the Shorewomen, while freshman midfielder/attacker Melanie Ruppert (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) notched two assists and scooped up a game-high seven ground balls. Junior midfielder Tarra Boulden (Newark, DE/Tower Hill) scored one goal, while freshman midfielder/attacker Megan Block (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) added an assist.

Jennifer Lam scored three goals to lead the Owls, while Millie Bond scored one.

Sophomore goalie Ashley Crisler (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) made seven saves for the Shorewomen, while Sarah Caldwell stopped 11 shots in goal for Bryn Mawr.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Ursinus. With a win in that game, the Shorewomen will earn a berth in the Centennial Conference playoffs.
