15, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College women's lacrosse team slipped to 9-3 overall this season with a 16-9 home loss to Rowan this afternoon in a non-conference game at Shriver Field. Junior attacker Casey Sawma (Conway, MA/Stoneleigh-Burnham) scored a team-high three goals for the Shorewomen. The game started at a furious pace as the teams were tied at 4-4 with 10 minutes into the contest. Rowan (5-4) then reeled off three unanswered goals to take a 7-4 lead with 9:36 to play in the first half. Junior attacker Janet Studdiford (Wyndmoor, PA/Springside School) scored off a feed from sophomore attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan Regional) with 18:18 7:50 left in the period to cut the lead to 7-5, but Rowan's Rebecca Peterson answered with an unassisted goal at 4:34 to push the margin back to three goals. WC senior attacker Tracy Smet (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) fired in a goal 1:49 before the break to pull the Shorewomen within 8-6 at the half. The Profs opened the second half with three unanswered goals to open up an 11-6 lead; Tracy Rogalcheck scored with 23:44 left, Peterson scored at 21:49, and Rogalcheck scored again at 18:38. Rowan led by at least four goals the rest of the way. Eichner finished with two goals and one assist on the day for the Shorewomen to join Sawma with a three-point outing. Studdiford added one goal and one assist, while senior attacker Paige Heller (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) tallied two assists. Rogalcheck scored five goals and assisted on two others to lead the Profs. Morgan Lang added two goals and three assists. The Shorewomen play host to Villa Julie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. BOX SCORE
