19, 2003 HAVERFORD, PA -- Eleanor Shriver Magee picked up her 50th win as head coach of the Washington College women's lacrosse team as the Shorewomen cruised to a 16-9 victory over host Haverford in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams. WC improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win, while the Fords slipped to 0-4 and 0-1, respectively. Washington, which built a 13-6 lead by halftime, got four goals and two assists each from junior attacker Janet Studdiford (Wyndmoor, PA/Springside School) and sophomore attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan). Senior attacker Paige Heller (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) had a game-high five assists and one goal, while senior midfielder Betty Weller (Sudlersville, MD/Queen Anne's County) scored three goals and junior attacker Casey Sawma (Conway, MA/Stoneleigh-Burnham) added two. Studdiford led the team with seven ground balls, while freshman defender Devon Mackesey (Lutherville, MD/Towson) recorded four caused turnovers. Mary Van Ogtrop had three goals and one assist for Haverford, while Mindy Walman tallied two goals and one assist. Freshman goalie Ashley Crisler (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) finished with 12 saves for Washington. Katherine Duffy made 13 saves for Haverford. Shriver Magee, already the Shorewomen's winningest all-time coach, coached her 87th game today, equaling the team mark set by Diane Guinan. The Shorewomen travel to Muhlenberg for a 1:00 p.m. conference game Saturday. BOX SCORE
