Shorewomen Down Fords, 20-9
Seventh-Ranked Ursinus is Next

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College Shorewomen had ten different players record at least one goal or one assist en route to a 20-9 Centennial Conference victory over visiting Haverford this afternoon at Shriver Field. The Shorewomen improved to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Fords slipped to 3-4 and 2-2.

The teams split the first four goals of the game before Haverford took its first and only lead with 20:02 left in the first half when senior midfielder Stacy Seiferheld (West Hartford, CT/William T. Hall) scored off a pass from junior midfielder Leigh James (Exton, PA/Westtown) to give the Fords a 3-2 edge. The Shorewomen scored eight of the final ten goals in the first half, however, and grabbed a 10-5 lead at the break. The Shorewoman lead grew to us many as a dozen in the second half when freshman midfielder Lindsay Stockfisch (Wilton, CT/Wilton) scored off an assist from junior attacker Paige Heller (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) to put WC up 19-7 with 12:20 to play.

Sophomore attacker Casey Sawma (Conway, MA/Stoneleigh-Burnham) led the Shorewomen with a game-high five goals, including four in the first half. Junior attacker Tracy Smet (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) and sophomore attacker Janet Studdiford (Wyndmoor, PA/Springside School) each finished with four goals. Stockfisch and sophomore midfielder Minta Sayres (East Haddam, CT/Westminster School) each scored a pair of goals, while freshman attacker Lindsey Eichner (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), junior attacker Paige Heller (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial), and junior midfielder Kristen Bozzella (Harwood, MD/Southern) scored one goal a piece.

Smet, Bozzella, Eichner, and Heller all finished with two assists each, while Studdiford, Sayres, Stockfisch, junior midfielder Betty Weller (Sudlersville, MD / Queen Anne's County), and junior attacker Sunni Houston (Monkton, MD/Maryvale Prep) each had one helper. Sophomore goalie Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) had 12 saves between the pipes for the Shorewomen. Studdiford tallied a game-high five draw controls.

Freshman attacker Mary van Ogtrop (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends) finished with three goals to lead the Fords. Junior midfielder Lou Charkoudian (Carlisle, MA/Concord-Carlisle) tallied two goals and one assist, while James wound up with one goal and two assists. Seiferheld added two goals and freshman attacker Katherine Johnson (Rochester, NY/Brighton) contributed one goal and one assist.

The Shorewomen return to action with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game Thursday against the seventh-ranked Ursinus College Bears, the defending Centennial Conference champions.
