WC Falls to Second-Ranked Lions
Higdon Makes 19 Saves

EWING, NJ -- The Washington College Shorewomen finished off their 2002 regular season with a 16-1 loss at second-ranked College of New Jersey tonight in Ewing, NJ. The loss dropped the Shorewomen's record to 9-8, but all eight losses have come against nationally-ranked teams. The Lions improved to 14-0 with the win.

The Lions led 12-0 at the half and had seven players score at least one goal in the game. Valerie Cherill scored four goals and assisted on two others, while Carin Heller also tallied four goals and had one assist. Liz O'Connor contributed three goals.

Sophomore attacker Janet Studdiford (Wyndmoor, PA/Springside School) scored WC's only goal on a free position shot with 20:43 remaining in the game. Sophomore goalie Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made 19 saves.
