11, 2009 LANCASTER, PA -- Two Washington College field hockey players have earned All-Centennial Conference honors in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches. Senior goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) was named to the first team for the second straight season, while freshman midfielder Kristen Wille (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) earned a spot on the second team. Nicholoff posted a .792 save percentage, a 2.12 goals-against average, and two solo shutouts this season. She was second in the conference in goals-against average and saves per game (7.82). Nicholoff, who is the school's all-time leader in saves with 584, is the second Washington goalkeeper to earn two-time All-Centennial Conference first team honors. Toby Wilmet was the first Shorewoman netminder to make conference first-team on two occasions, achieving the feat in 1999 and 2000. Wille netted two goals and added two assists for six points in her first season with the Shorewomen. Wille netted the game-winning goal at Goucher on October 1 and scored her first collegiate goal at Franklin & Marshall on September 25. She chalked up her two assists against Bryn Mawr on September 13 and at Moravian on October 5. Wille is the first freshman to earn all-conference honors since 1997, when Wilmet garnered honorable mention status. |
