Nicholoff Named Centennial
Defensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College junior goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending September 21st. Nicholoff made 11 saves and allowed one goal - on a penalty stroke - in a 2-0 week for the Shorewomen.

In Washington's 3-1 win at Muhlenberg Saturday, Nicholoff made nine stops, including five in a crucial 12-minute stretch late in the second half after the Shorewomen had rallied to take a 2-1 lead. Earlier in the week, she made a pair of stops in a 3-0 win over Stevenson.

This marks the second time this season and third time overall Nicholoff has earned Centennial Player of the Week honors. She was named Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 9th, 2007, and for the week ending August 31st, 2008.
