Eight Named to NFHCA Academic Squad
Shorewomen Also Win NFHCA Team Award

GLEN ALLEN, VA -- Eight Washington College field hockey players have been named to the 2008 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Academic Squad. Student-athletes selected for the squad have been nominated by their coaches and have attained a minimum overall grade-point average of at least 3.30 through the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year.

Senior Candace Gaull (Laurel, DE/Laurel) were named to the NFHCA Academic Squad for the fourth time. Junior Kelsey Kemp (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) earned the honor for the third time, while junior Kristin Bircsak (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) was a second time honoree. First-time WC members of the NFHCA Academic Squad were sophomore Rachel Sunday (Frederick, MD/Walkersville), and freshmen Anna Baker (Rock Hall, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul), Hannah O'Malley (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook), Emily Broomell (East Petersburg, PA/Lancaster Christian), and Brittany Palasik (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding).

The Shorewomen also earned a 2008 NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award for having a team grade-point average of at least 3.00 during the fall semester.
