Three Shorewomen Named All-Centennial
Spare & Nicholoff Garner First-Team Honors

LANCASTER, PA -- Three Washington College field hockey players have earned All-Centennial Conference honors in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches. Senior defender Cora Jo Spare (North East, MD/North East) and junior goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) were named to the first team, while senior midfielder Amy Spadanuta (Hackettstown, NJ/Warren Hills) was tabbed for the second team.

Spare and Nicholoff have anchored a defense which has the second-lowest goals-against average in the conference (1.28) and has shut out six opponents. Spare has tallied five defensive saves on the year, tops among all Shorewomen and good for third in the Centennial Conference in defensive saves per game (0.31). She has also recorded her first career goal and first career assist this season.

Nicholoff has posted a .860 save percentage, a 1.31 goals-against average, and four solo shutouts this season. She leads the Centennial Conference in save percentage and is second in goals-against average, saves per game (8.06), and shutouts per game (0.25). Nicholoff is the first Washington goalkeeper to earn All-Centennial Conference first team honors since Toby Wilmet earned first-team recognition in 1999 and 2000.

Spadanuta, who is a repeat All-Centennial Conference second-team selection, is tied for the team lead in assists (seven), is second on the team in total points (19), and is tied for second in goals (six). She is currently tied for ninth in the Centennial Conference in assists per game (0.44).

This is the first time that two Shorewomen landed on the All-Centennial Conference first team since 2003, when Laura Scimeca and Missy Tine were both repeat selections.
