11, 2007 DOVER, DE -- Host Wesley College improved to 3-0 on the season with a 5-1 non-conference field hockey win over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Dover, DE. It was the first loss of the season for the Shorewomen, who slipped to 2-1. Taryn Neeman put the Wolverines on the board with 17:10 left in the first half when she scored an unassisted goal in transition. Susan Neylan pushed the lead to 2-0 with 15:45 left in the period when she knocked in a loose ball following a save by Washington sophomore goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail). Wesley held an 11-2 advantage in shots in the first half and recorded all eight penalty corners of the period. Brooke Tadlock pushed the lead to 3-0 when she scored for Wesley off an assist from Danielle Vincent with 26:00 left in the second half. Tadlock scored again with 21:32 on the clock off an assist from Neylan to make it 4-0. Nicole Hill tacked on the Wolverines' fifth goal with 6:58 remaining off an assist from Katelyn Randes. The Shorewomen scored with 1:22 left in the game when sophomore attacker Kristin Bircsak (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Kelsey Kemp (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg). Wesley held a 25-8 advantage in shots in the game and a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners. Sophomore goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made seven saves in the loss for the Shorewomen. Wesley goalkeeper LeAnne Hyslop made four saves in 54:38 of playing time, while Sarah Johnson made no saves and allowed the Shorewomen's goal in the final 15:22. The Shorewomen open Centennial Conference play Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg.
