10, 2007 COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Sixth-ranked Ursinus got two early goals in an 85-second span as the Bears downed visiting Washington College, 8-0, on Wednesday evening a Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field in Centennial Conference field hockey action. The Bears improved to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 4-8 and 0-5. The Bears got on the board quickly, scoring 1:20 into the game as Lindsay Cappa scored off an assist from Jennie Moore. Ursinus upped its lead to 2-0 as Kait Sutherland scored off a feed from Jamie Doperak. The margin widened to 3-0 when Moore scored off a Sutherland assist with 15:05 remaining before the half. Cappa's second goal, off an assist from Moore, made it 4-0 with 3:39 to play in the first half. Nikki Thren opened the second-half scoring for the Bears, netting a goal off a feed from Moore 65 seconds into the period. Jessica Zatwarnicki scored the Bears' sixth goal with 31:04 left in the game and their seventh goal, off a Thren assist, with 29:19 to play. Kristen Amoroso supplied the eighth goal of the game for Ursinus, off an assist from Bridget Rosetco, with 6:24 remaining. Ursinus held a 25-1 advantage in shots and a 20-0 advantage in penalty corners in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made 10 saves and allowed seven goals for Washington in the first 44:30 of the game. Freshman goalkeeper Shannon Davis (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) played the final 25:30 of the game for Washington, making four saves and allowing one goal in her collegiate debut. Three Ursinus goalies combined for the shutout, but did not need to make a save. The Shorewomen return to action Friday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Gettysburg.
