21, 2007 LANCASTER, PA -- Pamela Cassidy netted the game-winning goal 3:37 into the second half as 19th-ranked Franklin & Marshall downed visiting Washington College, 4-2, at the North Campus Athletic Field on Friday afternoon in Centennial Conference field hockey action. The Diplomats move to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 3-3 overall and 0-2 conference. Cassidy took an Eileen OReilly feed in transition and slipped it past sophomore goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) for the deciding tally. F&M scored the final goal of the game with exactly 14:00 remaining when Stolle Singleton scored on a crossing pass from the right from OReilly. The Diplomats got onto the board on a Jessika Mancino tally 9:38 into the contest. Mancino stole a Shorewomen clearing attempt and netted the goal from 12 yards out. Washington evened the score at the 15:32 mark when junior attack Candace Gaull (Laurel, DE/Laurel) registered her fifth goal of the season from junior midfielder Amy Spadanuta (Hackettstown, NJ/Warren Hills) on a give-and-go. The Shorewomen grabbed their first lead of the day with 11:24 to go in the first half when freshman midfielder/defender Sarah Garber (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) collected a pass from junior attack/midfielder Jaimie Barlow (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and dunked it in from the left mouth of the goal. It was Garbers first career goal. The Diplomats evened the score with 6:35 to go in the opening frame when Brittany Carson drove to the net and knotted it up from the front of the goal. Lauren Wendth and Lauren Wesp collected assists on the goal. Jennifer Burdo made three saves in the victory, while Nicholoff stopped eight shots, including a penalty stroke in the second half. The Diplomats outshot the Shorewomen 13-7 in the game. Franklin & Marshall had the edge in penalty corners by an 11-6 margin. The Shorewomen return to action Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Marywood.
