#5 Bears Blank Shorewomen, 3-0
Nicholoff Makes 13 Saves in Loss

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Fifth-ranked host Ursinus College jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 11 minutes of the game en route to a 3-0 shutout of visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference field hockey game this afternoon in Collegeville, PA. The Bears improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play with the loss.

Jess Rogers scored off a deflection to put the Bears on the board with 31:09 to play in the first half. Melissa Buckley assisted on the goal. Ursinus took a 2-0 lead with 24:07 left in the period as Rogers scored again, this time off an assist from Meredith Stabley. The Bears tacked on their third and final goal with 9:48 left in the game when Molly Stevens knocked in an unassisted marker.

Ursinus held a 21-0 advantage in shots and a 15-0 advantage in penalty corners in the game. Freshman goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made 13 saves in the loss for Washington.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at McDaniel.
