7, 2006 GLASSBORO, NJ -- Host Rowan University out-shot visiting Washington College, 36-3, en route to a 3-0 non-conference field hockey victory this evening at John Page Field. The Profs improved to 3-0 with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-3 with the loss. The Profs scored the only goal of the first half when Colleen McGowan fired in a shot from near the top of the circle with 26:32 remaining in the period. Danielle Miranda opened the second half scoring when she redirected a shot from Erin Tideman with 23:38 left in the period. Miranda then scored again, this time off an assist from Susan Massara, just 1:55 later to push the lead to 3-0 and finish off the scoring. Freshman goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) played the first half in the cage for the Shorewomen, making 15 saves and allowing one goal. Junior goalkeeper Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) played the second half, made nine saves, and allowed two goals. Washington senior defender Lindsey Riley (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) was credited with a defensive save. Amanda Cucinotti made two saves for Rowan in the shutout. Rowan also held a 17-4 advantage in penalty corners in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Notre Dame (MD).
