2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Muhlenberg College clinched the fourth seed and a home game in the Centennial Conference Field Hockey Tournament with a 3-1 win over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. Muhlenberg (11-6, 6-4 Centennial) took a 1-0 lead when Jillian Duffy tipped in a ball sent inside the circle by Lauren Rutt with 23:55 remaining in the first half. Duffy then assisted on a goal by Kristen Sabia to make it 2-0 with 15:21 to go before halftime. The Shorewomen (2-14, 2-8) got on the board with 4:14 to play in the period as junior attack Amanda Garbart (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) scored off an assist from sophomore attack Amy Spadanuta (Hackettstown, NJ/Warren Hills). The only goal of the second half was scored by Muhlenberg's Nicole Notarianni on a penalty stroke with 1:11 remaining in the game. Muhlenberg held a 24-10 advantage in shots and a 19-6 advantage in penalty corners in the game. Lauren Schram made six saves for the Mules, while Kate Moyer added a defensive save. Freshman goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made 16 saves for the Shorewomen. Senior defenders Katie Madron (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) and Lindsey Riley (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) each made a defensive save for Washington. The Shorewomen finish their 2006 season Monday with a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game at Notre Dame (MD).
