McDaniel Rallies Past WC, 3-2, in OT
Rainey Records Goal, Assist in Loss

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Host McDaniel College rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to post a 3-2 overtime win over visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference field hockey game this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The Green Terror improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-7 and 0-2.

Junior attack Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) gave the Shorewomen a quick 1-0 lead when she knocked in a loose ball with 29:10 to play in the first half. Later in the period, Rainey found senior attack Shane Moser (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) for a goal with three minutes left before halftime.

The Green Terror got on the board with 31:18 remaining in the second half as Stephanie Capps tapped in a pass from Colleen Nugent. McDaniel tied things up with 4:40 left in regulation when Brenna Morin scored off a Brooke Dixon assist.

McDaniel's game-winner came with 6:28 to play in overtime when Jessica Largent scored on a fast break.

McDaniel goalie Erika Wawzyanick made two saves, while freshman goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made three stops for the Shorewomen.

The Green Terror held a 9-6 advantage in shots and a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners in the game.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Franklin & Marshall.
