2006 GETTYSBURG, PA -- Host Gettysburg College scored two goals in each half to defeat visiting Washington College, 4-0, in a Centennial Conference field hockey game this morning in Gettysburg, PA. The Bullets improved to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in Centennial Conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 2-10 and 2-5 with the loss. Cristi Farrell gave Gettysburg an early lead, scoring an unassisted goal with 27:35 left in the first half. Lexie Hearn pushed the lead to 2-0 with a goal off an assist from Maura Downey with 5:42 remaining before halftime. Hearn scored again with 31:01 left in the second half to extend the lead to 3-0. Krissy Browning rounded out the scoring with 31 seconds left off an assist from Downey. Katherine Corkhill made two saves in the shutout win for the Bullets. Freshman goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made 12 saves for the Shorewomen. Senior defender Lindsey Riley (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) added a defensive save. Gettysburg had a 24-3 advantage in shots and a 14-6 edge in penalty corners in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Johns Hopkins.
