Diplomats Down Shorewomen, 2-0
Nicholoff Makes Seven Saves in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Franklin & Marshall College scored a pair of first-half goals in a 2-0 Centennial Conference field hockey win over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Diplomats improved to 2-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-8 and 0-3.

The Diplomats scored their first goal with 22:50 left in the opening period when Mollie Ruben scored off a penalty corner from Samantha Bentley. F&M made it 2-0 when Lauren Wasp knocked in a loose ball with 5:19 to go before halftime.

F&M held a 15-4 advantage in shots in the game and a 13-6 edge in penalty corners.

Jennifer Burdo made four saves in the shutout for F&M, while freshman goalkeeper Elena Nicholoff (Tunkhannock, PA/Lackawanna Trail) made seven stops for Washington.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Haverford.
