#2 Sea Gulls Survive Shorewomen, 3-1
Miller Scores for WC, O'Brien Makes 17 Saves

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Brittany Elliott scored all three Salisbury goals, including two in the final 6:32 of the game as the two-time defending NCAA Division III National Champion Sea Gulls defeated host Washington College, 3-1, in a non-conference field hockey game this afternoon in Chestertown. The Sea Gulls, who are ranked second in Division III, improved to 13-1 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 3-9 with the loss.

Elliott scored the only goal of the first half off an assist from Megan Powell with 58 seconds remaining in the period. The Shorewomen tied the scored with 13:13 left in the second period when sophomore attack Rachel Miller (Greene, NY/Greene Central) dove to fire in a shot from near the top of the circle off an assist from junior midfielder Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley).

Elliott notched what would prove to be the game-winner with 6:32 left in the game when she scored off a cross from Tracey Lloyd. Elliott scored the final goal of the game off an assist from Kristina Holland on a penalty corner with no time left on the clock.

Washington sophomore goalkeeper Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) made 17 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen, while Kristina Schweizer made two saves for the Sea Gulls.

Salisbury held a 25-4 advantage in shots and a 19-1 advantage in penalty corners in the game.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against 17th-ranked Gettysburg.
