October 19, 2005 BALTIMORE, MD -- Sophomore attack Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) scored her first collegiate goal as visiting Washington College knocked off host Johns Hopkins University, 2-0, in a Centennial Conference field hockey game this evening at Homewood Field. The Shorewomen improved to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in conference play by handing the Blue Jays (8-6, 5-2) their first home loss of the season. Rainey scored off an assist from sophomore attack Rachel Miller (Greene, NY/Greene Central) with 11:40 remaining in the first half. Miller assisted on the Shorewomen's second goal of the game as sophomore attack Amanda Garbart (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) fired in the insurance marker with 10:02 to play in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) made eight saves en route to the shutout win, helping to offset a 14-6 advantage in shots for Hopkins. The Blue Jays also maintained a sizeable 22-2 advantage in penalty corners in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with their final home game of the season, a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference contest against Dickinson.
