October 27, 2004 STEVENSON, MD -- Senior attack Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) scored two goals and assisted on another as visiting Washington College topped host Villa Julie, 4-2, in a non-conference field hockey game this afternoon in Stevenson, MD. The Shorewomen evened their 2004 record at 8-8 with the win, while the Mustangs finish their season with a 3-14 mark. Washington got on the board first when freshman attack/midfielder Rachel Miller (Greene, NY/Greene) scored off an assist from senior attack Traci Sodano (Clinton, NJ/North Hunterdon) with 28:35 remaining in the first half. The Mustangs quickly tied things up, however, as Morgan Feehery scored an unassisted goal with 26:14 to go in the period. The Shorewomen pulled back ahead before halftime when Scimeca scored her first goal off the game off an assist from freshman attack Megan Rainey (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding) with 13:33 left in the half. Rainey's assist was the first of her collegiate career. In the second half, the Mustangs would again tied the score, this time on a penalty stroke by Meghan Melvin with 25:55 to play in the game. Scimeca gave Washington the lead for good, however, with an unassisted goal with 17:30 on the clock. Senior attack/midfielder Breahn McAteer (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) tacked on an insurance goal, which was assisted by Scimeca, with 5:23 remaining. Washington held a 19-6 advantage in shots and a 17-2 advantage in penalty corners in the game. The Shorewomen will close out the regular season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg. A win in that game would give the Shorewomen a berth in the Centennial Conference Playoffs.
