September 25, 2004 COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Third-ranked Ursinus College improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in Centennial Conference play with a 2-0 shutout of visiting Washington College in a field hockey game this afternoon in Collegeville, PA. The Shorewomen slipped to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the loss. The Bears scored once in each half, taking the lead with 9:25 to go in the first on an unassisted goal by Jess Rogers and upping the margin to 2-0 with 30:10 remaining in the second on a goal by Molly Stevens. Ashley Ettinger picked up an assist on the Bears' second goal. Washington freshman goalkeeper Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) made 14 saves in the loss, while Ursinus goalkeeper Jessica Lamina made one. Washington sophomore defender/midfielder Kristin Ward (Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) tallied her third defensive save of the season. Ursinus held a 21-2 advantage in shots and an 18-2 advantage in penalty corners. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at 14th-ranked McDaniel.
