September 29, 2004 WESTMINSTER, MD -- Senior attack/midfielder Breahn McAteer (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) and sophomore attack/midfielder Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) each scored one goal to give visiting Washington College a 2-0 win over 16th-ranked host McDaniel College in Centennial Conference field hockey action this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The Shorewomen improved to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win, while the Green Terror slipped to 5-2 and 1-1. After a scoreless first half, McAteer put the Shorewomen on the board with an unassisted goal with 29:55 to play in the second half. Simons scored less than four minutes later, tallying her goal off an assist from senior attack Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) with 26:01 remaining. Freshman goalkeeper Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) made eight saves for Washington to earn her first collegiate individual shutout. Nicole Cahill made nine saves for McDaniel. Sophomore defender Katie Madron (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun), junior defender Erin Peyton (Towson, MD/Maryvale), and sophomore defender Lindsey Riley (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) each recorded a defensive save for the Shorewomen. Heather Roberts had two defensive saves for the Green Terror. The Shorewomen will host sixth-ranked Franklin & Marshall Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game.
