16, 2004 GETTYSBURG, PA -- Sixteenth-ranked Gettysburg College scored the only goal of the game less than 13 minutes into the game and held on for a 1-0 win over visiting Washington College in a Centennial Conference field hockey game this afternoon in Gettysburg, PA. The Bullets improved to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen dropped to 6-7 and 4-3 with the loss. Bridget Seidel accounted for the Bullets' goal when she knocked in a rebound off of her own shot with 23:28 to play in the first half. Gettysburg goalkeeper Katherine Corkhill made two saves in the shutout, while Washington freshman goalkeeper Erin O'Brien (Havre de Grace, MD/John Carroll) made eight. Washington junior defender Erin Peyton (Towson, MD/Maryvale) recorded a defensive save in the game. Gettysburg held a 12-2 advantage in shots and a 12-3 edge in penalty corners. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Johns Hopkins.
