7, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD --Junior attack Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) scored two goals and assisted on another as the Washington College field hockey team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over visiting Haverford this afternoon in a Centennial Conference game. It was the Shorewomen's eighth consecutive win over the Fords (5-7 overall, 0-4 Centennial). Washington (5-5, 2-3) got on the board with 19:01 left in the first half when Scimeca knocked in her first goal of the day to extend her consecutive goal-scoring streak to nine games. The Shorewomen took a 2-0 lead on a goal by senior attack Taneil Sisco (Kent County, MD/Kent County) with 12:54 left in the period, but Haverford cut the lead back to one when Bethany Drybala scored off an assist from Meg Twomey with 2:04 remaining before the half. Washington pushed the lead back to two goals before the break, however, when freshman midfielder Ally Simons (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) knocked in a goal off an assist from junior midfielder Breahn McAteer (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) with 13 seconds to play before the intermission. Scimeca scored her 14th goal of the season with 25:30 remaining in the second half, and then assisted on a goal by sophomore midfielder Bonnie Loder (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) exactly two minutes later. WC senior goalie Zina Hense (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) tallied seven saves in the win, while Haverford's Amie Roe made eight. Washington senior defender Missy Tine (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) notched her fifth defensive save of the season in the contest.
