4, 2003 LANCASTER, PA -- The Washington College field hockey team lost to host Franklin & Marshall, 3-2, in Centennial Conference game this afternoon in Lancaster, PA. The Shorewomen fell to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while the Diplomats upped their record to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. F&M jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals 16 seconds apart in the first half. Lindsey Mummert scored off an assist from Brenna Dolphin with 26:54 to go in the period and then assisted on a goal by Eileen Keever with 26:38 left before the break. Washington junior attack Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) knocked in her 12th goal of the season to cut the lead to 2-1 with 13:49 left in the second half. Scimeca has now scored at least one goal in each of the Shorewomen's past eight games. F&M's Brittany Croll pushed the lead back to two with a goal with 6:30 remaining off an assist from Kate West. The Shorewomen are back in action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Centennial Conference foe Haverford.
