4, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Junior attack Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) scored two goals and freshman attack Shane Moser (Topton, PA/Brandywine Heights) tallied one goal and one assist as the host Washington College field hockey team topped the College of Notre Dame, 4-1, in non-conference action this afternoon. The Shorewomen (1-1) scored the only goal of the first half when Scimeca knocked in an unassisted tally with 5:07 on the clock. Moser opened the second-half scoring with her first collegiate goal, scoring on a rebound of a Scimeca shot with 33:02 to go in the game. Moser then picked up her first collegiate assist, feeding Scimeca for a goal with 21:37 to play to push the lead to 3-0. The Gators (0-2) got on the board with 19:05 left as Kathy Baran scored off an assist from Natalie Beck. Washington junior midfielder Breahn McAteer (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) rounded out the scoring with 6:44 remaining, knocking in her first collegiate goal off an assist from senior attack Taneil Sisco (Kent County, MD/Kent County). Senior Zina Hense (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) made seven saves for the Shorewomen in the victory. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Montclair State. Box Score
